Preparing to Paradise - Part I of Calaguas Getaway

My best buddy Aysis called me. She said, " King is coming home for his summer vacation, we need to have a getaway..." But me being busy as hell just told her, " Okay sige kahit saan go ako dyan!"

After a week she sent me a text message saying that she already arranged the getaway (May 3-4) and just needed to delegate what to bring. I asked her where are we going, then she simply replied, Calaguas Island. Then me being a skeptic-geek trekker, I immediately typed the words. Upon seeing the images of the island, I decided I am going no matter what happened. Things that came into my mind were - building castles in the sand, searching for the perfect seashell, playing tag with the ocean waves and of course endless laughter with my best friends.

I was excited as if I'm going to a caribbean cruise with Chris Tiu ( Hahaha - sana mangyari na rin to). I kept on asking Aysis for updates and for things we need to prepare. So Aysis being the best organizer and a patient friend, she kept on sending me updates and reminders.

Aysis : Chocs we're going to ride a bus for 9 hours and boat ride for 2 to get to the island.
Me: What? Ganun talaga katagal?
Aysis : Yun ang sabi ni Kuya Joey ( the yet unknown  Tour Organizer she contacted)
Me :  (anxious tone...) 2 hours boat ride?! Ngii...
Aysis : He also said to put our belongings to plastics before putting them inside our bags.
Me : Malakas kaya alon...parang kinakabahan ako dyan.
Aysis : Ako din naman. Pero kaya yun. Oo nga pala flashlight might come in handy...Camping ang peg natin
          dun.
Me : Okay. Thanks. Update mo ulit ako ha.
Aysis : Oo naman. Ay chocs can you bring butane gas? Atleast two (2) cans... Sabi kasi ni Kuya need natin     yun.
Me : Butane Gas? Di ba delikado ibyahe yun? Saka saan ako bibili nun?
Aysis : Oo safe nman daw yun. Sa Ace Hardware ( libre advertisement...hehe)
Me : Hmm sige na nga. Bili ako bukas. I did filed my leave for May 3 na nga pala.
Aysis : Great! I'll see you on Thursday.

Labor Day - All I was thinking were the things I still need to bring and if the "butane gas" will be safe. Then in the afternoon I went to Ace Hardware to buy them... upon seeing the item I said to myself  "Cool naman pala itsura nito, parang shaving cream lang ni Papa.."

Though busy at work, I kept on checking my watch for  I was so excited as if I'm going to receive a Ferrari for Christmas. (Feeling ko kanina pa ko nag-eendorse)... then 4PM strikes... Waaah!

I rushed home to take a bath and finished my still unruly travel bag...

At 9PM...

Aysis : Chocs, where are you? Dito na kami 7-11.
Me : I'm on my way na.

Off to Crossing EDSA, the meeting place.

A black Mitsubishi Adventure (sana mabayaran ako sa mga endorsements ko ; ) )  suddenly parked in front of us. Then two came alighted from the vehicle, asking us if we're the group going to Calaguas.

Unknown Kuya : Kayo ba yung pupunta ng Calaguas?
Aysis : Opo. Eto na po ba yung kina Kuya Joey?
Unknown Kuya : Kuya Joey?!  (Jokingly) ay hindi Pagudpud to. Haha
Aysis : Wait lang po ha...(Nervously checking her phone)
Me : (Whispering) Chocs is everything alright?
Aysis : Hindi sila yung kausap ko e (in her lowest tone)
Me : Oopps, okay hintay pa tyo konti...
King : Guys may problema ba?
Aysis : Wala naman (but still checking her phone)

Then this certain Kuya Joey wearing yellow shirt approached Aysis and said "Uy".... the expression of Aysis face was like relieved and Kuya-Buti-Na-Lang-It-Was-You...

Then the Journey begins...
